Windhaven is a indie video game I started developing at Christmas, 2009. It was a labour of love; the vision was ambitious for a one-man project and I did my best to implement it completely. Progress occured in bursts depending on how much time I had left after commercial work, AI research and family committments. Windhaven was finally approaching completion in early 2012, and the beta version made it to the finals of Dream Build Play 2012.

Unfortunately several things then happened almost simultaneously;
1) I submitted the game to Steam Greenlight, and like most indie submissions at the time put in a lot of effort promoting the game yet got absolutely nowhere. Approval seemed like an impossibly high bar, which was pretty depressing.
2) I had a major commercial setback; I had to fire several staff and took a big financial hit myself.
3) Several very negative and depressing things happened to my family in quick succession.
4) Finally, I became somewhat depressed and fed up with programming. I continuted to develop financial software, but I decided to spend my free time working on something physical instead. I worked on several automotive projects; my from-scratch DeLorean DMC-12 twin turbo RHD build, my Isuzu VehiCROSS supercharged USDM/JDM hybrid rebuild and my TARDIS replica trailer.

Windhaven has been dormant since then. I apologise to everyone who helped with development and testing, seeing things grind to a halt like that. I have been guilty about this for that last two years, but couldn't bring myself to sink time into bringing the project back.

However, this weekend, out of the blue, Windhaven was actually approved on Steam Greenlight. I guess it has slowly been building up votes over the last two years while the queue of indie games ahead was slowly clearing out. As such I have decided to resume development and complete and publish the game. Right now I can't say exactly when this will start or how long it will take - I have to finnish off some stuff on my car projects and house repairs first - but I hope it will be soon. Thanks to everyone who kept the faith.

It appears this game will never be completed. Could you at least post a link to the beta somewhere? I've been dying to play this.
